Amex adds Leading Hotels of the World as a Membership Rewards transfer partner at 4:1
Membership Rewards now transfers to LHW's Leaders Club: 1,000 points become 250 Leaders Club points, entry free nights start at 16,000 MR, and Amex Platinum holders get Sterling status.
A rare piece of good news in a year of cuts: American Express has added The Leading Hotels of the World's Leaders Club as a Membership Rewards transfer partner.

Leading Hotels of the World is a collection of independent luxury properties (Le Sirenuse on the Amalfi Coast, Adare Manor, Capella Bangkok), so this adds a genuinely different redemption lane alongside the chain programs.
Why the ratio is better than it looks
4:1 sounds steep until you price the points. Doctor of Credit pegs Leaders Club points at roughly 8 cents each, which works out to about 2 cents per Membership Rewards point at this ratio, above the typical baseline for hotel transfers. Citi ThankYou has offered Leaders Club transfers since October 2023 at a weaker 5:1, though periodic 25% transfer bonuses have brought Citi to the same effective 4:1.
The status kicker
Amex Platinum cardholders get complimentary Leaders Club Sterling status, which includes breakfast benefits and space-available upgrades. Note the fine print reported by Doctor of Credit: the five pre-arrival upgrade certificates attached to Sterling do not apply to award bookings.
Who benefits
Anyone sitting on a Membership Rewards balance who prefers independent luxury hotels over the Hilton and Marriott chains. For cash-expensive properties, an entry-level free night at 16,000 points can beat most airline transfers on pure value per point.
