World of Hyatt now lets members transfer points online, free, up to 525,000 a year
Since 15 October 2026, World of Hyatt members can send points to another member online at 1:1 and no fee, replacing the old paper form. Limits: 1,000-point minimum, one transfer a month, six a year, 525,000 sent and received per calendar year.
Moving World of Hyatt points between two members used to mean a PDF form signed by both people, emailed in, and a wait of two to four weeks. Since 15 October 2026 it is an online tool, free, and usually done within a day. The Milelion, Prince of Travel and Milesopedia all report the same rules.
The new rules
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Cost | Free |
| Ratio | 1:1 |
| Minimum | 1,000 points, then in 500-point increments |
| Annual limit | 525,000 points sent and 525,000 received per calendar year |
| Frequency | One transfer per calendar month, six per calendar year |
| Account age | Both accounts open at least 60 days and in good standing |
| Speed | Usually within 24 hours; up to 10 business days if held for review |

To send points you need the recipient's name, email address and World of Hyatt member number, per Prince of Travel. The Milelion reports the old PDF form is now retired.
Why it matters
- Pooling for one award gets easy. A couple or family can combine balances to book a single top-category night without the paperwork.
- Card points can be routed through one account. If two people each earn points that transfer to Hyatt, each can transfer into their own Hyatt account and then gift the points to one member. Plan around the one-transfer-a-month limit.
- The 60-day rule catches new accounts. If you open a Hyatt account today to receive points, it cannot take part for two months.
How this sits with Hyatt's other 2026 changes
This is good news in a year that has mostly gone the other way for Hyatt points. The five-tier award chart we covered in this earlier post raised top-end prices, and Bilt's Hyatt transfer ratio worsens from 1 January 2027 (details). Free online gifting does not change award prices, but it does make each point easier to use.
