HDFC caps SmartBuy brand-voucher earnings at 3,000 points/month: Infinia hit hardest
From July 2026, HDFC's SmartBuy brand vouchers earn accelerated points only up to 3,000 RP/month. The favourite Infinia and Diners Black points-maximising trick just got smaller.
From 1 July 2026, HDFC put a dedicated monthly ceiling on the most popular way to rack up reward points: SmartBuy brand vouchers (GyFTR / Woohoo).
What changed
- Brand-voucher purchases on SmartBuy now earn accelerated reward points only up to 3,000 RP per month.
- Beyond that, additional voucher buys in the same month earn no accelerated RP.
- Previously, brand vouchers could fill the entire 15,000 RP monthly SmartBuy cap.
Who's hit
Infinia holders hardest. The Infinia's high accelerated rate on SmartBuy meant vouchers were a reliable way to top up points every month. With the accelerated portion now capped at 3,000 RP, the effective monthly points ceiling from vouchers drops sharply. Diners Black, Regalia, and other SmartBuy-eligible cards are affected the same way.
What to do
Brand vouchers are still worth buying up to the new 3,000 RP cap. That portion is unchanged. Past it, the accelerated edge is gone, so plan larger voucher purchases across statement cycles. See what your points are actually worth per redemption on the points calculator before front-loading a big voucher buy.
