The Indie SaaS Founder card combo
Indian bootstrapped founder, 1-3 person team, with a mix of USD-billed dev tools and INR-billed Indian SaaS.
You're running a $50-150/mo SaaS stack (Vercel, Resend, GitHub, Cursor — see the Indie SaaS tool stack). Most of it is USD-billed but the volume is small. The right combo: a low-fee 2%-forex card for the USD subscriptions + a no-annual-fee online-cashback card for India-domestic spend. Total annual fee under ₹3K.
The combo
Axis Magnus
2% forex on USD bills, milestone vouchers at ₹1.5L spend that pay back the annual fee. Lower fee than Diners Black for similar forex coverage.
Axis ACE
Zero annual fee, 2% on Google Pay UPI bills + 4-5% on dining/groceries. The everyday-spend card that doesn't cost anything to keep.
Tradeoffs & pitfalls
The honest stuff — what nobody on the issuer's marketing page will tell you.
- 01Magnus has a ₹12.5K annual fee — break-even is at ~$8K/yr USD spend. If your USD burn is below $700/mo, defer to the Diners Black combo instead.
- 02The Axis ACE 2% UPI cashback is capped at ₹500/mo (₹6K/yr). Past that, marginal cashback drops to 1%.
- 03Both cards are Axis Bank — adds concentration risk if your relationship sours. A third "backup" card from a different bank is wise long-term.
